I have always been deeply interested in mental health, whether it’s the common experiences of depression, psychological challenges brought on by environmental factors, or critical issues rooted in genetics. Over time, this interest has grown into a personal mission to advocate for greater awareness and open dialogue around mental health.

Living away from my homeland has given me a unique perspective on the emotional and psychological struggles that individuals face while adjusting to a new culture, often without the close support of family. This experience highlighted for me how difficult it can be to navigate mental health challenges in isolation, especially in environments where mental well-being is still stigmatised and often overlooked.

One of the most impactful parts of my journey has been my involvement with FWOC (Female Wave Of Change), where I have served as a Wavemaker and contributed to the health pillar team. This platform has empowered me to speak openly about emotional and mental wellness and to support others in doing the same.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many of us were confined to our homes and isolated from the outside world, mental health concerns became even more widespread. It was during this period that my role with FWOC became particularly meaningful. Being part of a community that prioritised mental health not only provided a support system for others but also helped me grow personally.

This experience has further strengthened my commitment to breaking the stigma around mental health, especially within marginalised communities. I believe that by encouraging open conversations and offering support, we can create healthier, more compassionate environments for everyone. My goal is to continue advocating for mental well-being and making mental health resources more accessible and normalised in all communities.
