Dear readers, I have been using most of Kritan´s pictures in my blog but it looks like I am not giving him much credit. One fine evening, while we were lying on the couch, I was checking my sister´s message regarding my blog. She was encouraging me to be more serious about my writing, and also insisting kritan to take photography seriously. So during that moment I came up with an idea of writing behind the scene stories for Kritan’s pictures. So here I present the picture that we took in a village called Bansbari in Morang Nepal, on 2018 December. This is the village where my maternal grandparents lived and I have spent many years of my childhood there. In this article I aim to talk about gratitude and helpfulness.

This is back in 2018 when Kritan sold some of his pictures and we decided to donate the money that we got from his pictures. When we were in Nepal for a holiday, we used the amount to donate blankets to each household in this Musahar Basti of almost 70 families. The picture above shows a paralyzed woman who spends her night outside of the house also in winter. The moment was very emotional, and almost brought tears to our eyes when we were giving her a blanket and some food.

Also looking at the children who were barefoot during winter without proper warm clothes made me realize how fortunate we are to have got all those facilities. Another thought that came to my mind during this donation event was, we did not have to spend a lot of money to provide to those families, few thousands of Rupees were enough to bring a smile on the face of those people.

There are so many people including children devoid of basic clean drinking water, food, shelter, family and good education in many parts of the world. Still we complain about our conditions and feel depressed. If we start thinking about what we have instead of whatnot, we can already be happy because everyone has something to be happy for. We sometimes forget the importance of gratitude and helpfulness

I want to end this article by mentioning a quote that says “In the end it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” Denzel Washington

Let’s be thankful for what we have and try to give to those who have less.
